Capitol Hill Briefing: ACA Members Prepare to Visit Congress
With the Chiropractic Medicare Modernization Act reintroduced last week in Congress, ACA members will make a major push tomorrow to gain cosponsors for the bill during Chiropractic’s Day on the Hill. This afternoon, at the Capitol Hill Briefing, doctors and students received instructions from lobbyists on how to effectively communicate with members of Congress and their staff about the bill.

ACA President Leo Bronston, DC, kicked off the event, reminding members of how important their voices are to making positive change. “Advocacy is a key example of our purpose. It is crucial to fulfill the mission of advocacy for the profession of chiropractic,” he said.
The Medicare bill (H.R. 539/S. 106) would increase patient access to Medicare-covered services provided by doctors of chiropractic, clearing a statutory barrier that has stood in the way for 50 years. An identical bill in the last congressional session had strong bipartisan support and achieved more than 180 cosponsors.

John Falardeau, ACA senior vice president of public policy and advocacy, said he is “very hopeful” about getting the bill passed in the current session. He pointed out that while asking members of Congress to cosponsor H.R. 539/S. 106 is the goal, just as important is establishing a relationship with a congressional office and continuing it long after Engage 2025 is over.
Members were advised to follow up with congressional staff in the coming weeks to ensure they have the information they need about H.R. 539/S. 106 and continue to ask for support and thank those who have previously supported the legislation. “You are the voice of home; the office wants to hear your voice on these issues,” noted Falardeau.
