Rehab and Conditioning for Older Adults (1 CE)
Presenter: Morgan Price, DC
Presentation Summary: This one-hour course discusses the importance of movement and exercise for older patients from the perspective of flexibility, balance, strength, floor recovery, bone density, muscle composition, ADL independence, fall prevention, and quality of life maintenance that you, as a chiropractor, are well-positioned to program. The course also reviews how to effectively program rehab and conditioning for older adult patients. As our patients age, conversations surrounding the importance of bone, joint, and muscle health are much different than conversations with younger patients. Every year we age, it is more challenging to maintain muscle mass, bone density, and walking capacity if we are not actively training to do so. Older adults have a vast variety of “starting lines” and “finish lines” for exercise pursuits, and many can tolerate advice beyond the generalized stretching they are usually prescribed. This course will discuss resources available for movement and exercise support for our patients as well as common barriers (lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication, joint replacements, fall risk, etc.) and how to navigate them. The course will review how to reverse engineer functional goal setting and how to incrementally progress. We will discuss ongoing initiatives such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s STEADI Algorithm, the American Public Health Association’s 2023 Fall Prevention Initiative, and any updates from the Clinical Compass Best Practice Guideline. Takeaways from the course include easy to implement, low-tech rehab programming examples and foundational knowledge that every practitioner should know.
Friday, Jan. 24 | 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. | Executive Room
Hypermobility Conditions in the Busy Chiropractic Practice (1 CE)
Presenter: Brendan McCann, DC
Presentation Summary: Everyone with a connective tissue disorder should have an informed chiropractor on their team. Recognizing the most common hypermobility conditions, such as Ehlers Danlos syndrome, can improve treatment outcomes and support a bulletproof treatment plan. This is a large and underserved patient group, and recognition can have a significant impact on patients’ lives. In this session, we will talk through how to quickly screen for hypermobility conditions, when to evaluate further, and how to work with patients to modify treatment for excellent responses.
Friday, Jan. 24 | 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. | Executive Room
Chiropractic Leadership in Musculoskeletal Medicine, Driving Change in Hospital Networks (1 CE)
Presenter: Paul Duffy, DC
Presentation Summary: In 2024, practicing chiropractic in a hospital system is becoming a viable practice alternative. Chiropractors are serving in small interdisciplinary groups, community hospitals, large hospital networks, and university-based research hospitals. Pathways to integrating chiropractic into medical settings are being established and followed as the “glass walls” to inclusion are being shattered. This presentation will go beyond the didactic “how to start” and explore the inclusion of chiropractic care as the standard of care in hospital networks. The ideas shared will be applicable to the soon-to-be new graduate as well as the seasoned practicing chiropractor. Attendees will be able to leave with the tools to develop and communicate a just cause, a mission, a vision, and a leadership mindset that will focus on the infinite versus finite end game. Attendees will be able to clearly state the values of chiropractic care to hospital network decision-makers and policymakers and will leave the presentation with a vision of the possibilities of where chiropractic can be in the future of health care.

Social Determinants of Health in the Chiropractic Setting (1 CE)
Presented by: Alli Totzke-Hitzeroth, DC, MPP
Presentation Summary: Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) play a crucial role in patient outcomes, making it essential to screen for them in the chiropractic setting and to inform broader health policy. However, the challenge lies in effectively utilizing this information once it’s gathered. In this session, we will explore the concept of SDOH, practical approaches to screening, and the evolving policy language surrounding SDOH.
Attendees will also examine how the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) remains relevant in addressing SDOH through its guidelines and ongoing advocacy efforts. At the end of the session, attendees will have a deeper understanding of how to incorporate SDOH into practice and how it impacts patient care and policy development.
Radiology Error (1 CE)
Presented by: Cliff Tao, DC, DACBR
Presentation Summary: This presentation will cover the various types of radiology errors that can occur in clinical practice, along with proven strategies to minimize them. Through real-life case study examples, we will explore common mistakes, implications, and practical approaches to improving accuracy in radiologic interpretation. Attendees will leave with actionable insights to enhance their diagnostic skills and reduce the likelihood of errors in their own practice.
Systems-Based Rehabilitation in Chiropractic (1 CE)
Presented by: Todd E. Riddle, DC, CCSP, RKT, CSCS, ICSC, FAKTR
Presentation Summary: A system is “a set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized framework or method.” A system can provide a level of certainty or a standard operating procedure in respect to how to assess a patient and proceed with treatment based on evidence-informed findings; but it does not imply that everyone will receive the same treatment or even have the same goals or outcomes. In health care, a well-designed system informs and guides care, regardless of who is seeking treatment from a chiropractor. Further, a system may involve a variety of different assessment tools, treatment techniques, exercises, equipment, etc. It guides clinical decision-making based on good information as opposed to a treatment plan based on trial and error.
Taking the Lead in Empowering Chiropractors in Scoliosis Management (1 CE)
Presented by: Jeb McAviney, BsC, Mchiro, MPainMed, FCBP
Presentation Summary: Scoliosis can affect up to 5% of children, 32% of older adults, and 68% of the geriatric population. Despite its prevalence, managing scoliosis remains a challenge for many practitioners. For chiropractors, accurate diagnosis and effective management skills are crucial, as they are ideally positioned to take a leading role in the ongoing detection and care of patients with scoliosis. This one-hour session is designed to update your clinical knowledge with the latest evidence-based practices for diagnosing and managing scoliosis. Dr. McAviney will explore topics including the prevalence and impact of scoliosis across different age groups, challenges in screening and assessment, modern approaches in scoliosis rehabilitation and bracing, the role of chiropractors in patient-centered care, and case co-management strategies for optimal outcomes. This session will also clarify the chiropractor’s role within the broader healthcare community, emphasizing when chiropractic management is appropriate and when collaboration and co-management are necessary. Attend this session to enhance your expertise in scoliosis management, learn how to make informed decisions that positively impact patient outcomes, and establish yourself as a key contributor to the multidisciplinary management of scoliosis.
