WELCOME to Engage 2024, ACA’s Annual Meeting and Conference

The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) is excited to welcome everyone this week to Washington, D.C., for the start of ACA Engage 2024! The annual meeting gives doctors of chiropractic and students the opportunity to shape a brighter future by advocating for pro-chiropractic legislation, participating in professional development, and connecting with friends and colleagues from across the country.

This year, ACA’s specialty councils were instrumental in developing the Engage education program. Attendees can earn up to 12 CE credits (out of a total of 20). Session themes this year focus on innovation, integration and inclusivity in the chiropractic profession. Learn more.

You can view the full conference schedule, as well as education, advocacy information and more, at acatoday.org/engage. Members, Lobbyists Prepare for Advocacy Day at Capitol Hill Briefing

With the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act (H.R. 1610/S. 799) pending in Congress, ACA’s members gathered tonight in Washington, D.C., to prepare for Chiropractic’s Day on Capitol Hill tomorrow by rallying one another and sharing lobbying tips.

ACA President Michael Martin, DC, and Vice President Marcus Nynas, DC, kicked off the briefing. Dr. Martin made a special point to acknowledge chiropractic students for their involvement in the annual lobbying event, which results in many productive meetings and enables DCs and students to build relationships with elected officials and key congressional staff.

John Falardeau, ACA senior vice president of public policy and advocacy, and Chris Davis and Brian Sutter of the Capitol Hill Consulting Group, were also on hand to talk strategy.

In addition to sharing practical lobbying tips, Falardeau noted that the ongoing opioid crisis in the U.S. should remain a central point of discussion during the meetings, as it has been for several years. “We believe that [chiropractic] is part of the answer to opioid abuse in this country.”

“Treat [congressional] staff as you would members of Congress,” Falardeau advised, noting that staffers have tremendous influence on Capitol Hill and can champion an issue to their bosses.

He also explained that tomorrow is a day for building relationships, and that starts with just getting to know each other and the issues at hand. “Keep the conversation flowing,” he said, “but remember that the ask tomorrow is to cosponsor H.R. 1610/S. 799. The more cosponsors we have, the greater the likelihood of our success.”

Share Your Capitol Hill Photos Tomorrow

ACA staff photographers will be taking pictures on Capitol Hill during lobbying on Thursday, so keep an eye out for them to get pictures of your meetings. If you take pictures of your own, please send them to ACA at [email protected] or post them on social media with the hashtag #ACAEngage2024.
