National Chiropractic Health Month 2023: Relieve, Restore, Resume

Arlington, Va. – The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and doctors of chiropractic nationwide will celebrate National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM) 2023 this October with the theme “Chiropractic: Relieve, Restore, Resume.” The campaign will bring attention to the prevalence and impact of chronic pain and the importance of non-drug approaches such as chiropractic services for safe and effective pain management.

Research shows that one in five adults in the United States experiences chronic pain, and that new cases of chronic pain occur more frequently than new cases of other chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions such as low back pain rank among the most common causes of chronic pain, leading in some cases to lost productivity, disability and even mental health problems and opioid addiction.

“It’s important for people to know there are non-drug options for treating chronic pain, and that doctors of chiropractic can collaborate with other providers,” said ACA President Michael Martin, DC. “Chiropractors not only help their patients manage musculoskeletal pain without drugs, but they also provide tools to help them improve function and resume their normal activities, leading to healthier, happier lives.”

During NCHM 2023, chiropractors will raise awareness of chronic pain and chiropractic’s evidence-based, patient-centered non-drug approach, encouraging those who have been sidelined by MSK pain to consider chiropractic care as a way to relieve their pain, restore function, and resume the activities that matter most.

A “Chiropractic: Relieve, Restore, Resume” campaign toolkit, with resources and ideas on how to participate, will be available in September at www.acatoday.org/NCHM. Members of the public can look for more information about chiropractic at www.HandsDownBetter.org.
