American Chiropractic Association (ACA) members are making news as they lead the chiropractic profession in the most constructive and far-reaching ways, elevating the health and wellness of their communities.

Dr. Maiers

Ryan Burdick, DC, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Michele Maiers, DC, MPH, PhD, of Minneapolis, Minn., were named by the NCMIC Foundation as 2025 winners of the George P. McAndrews, J.D., and Jerome F. McAndrews, D.C., Memorial Research Fund Award. The awards recognize individuals who advance research and the exchange of scientific information, promote high ethical standards in research and/or practice, contribute practical applications to chiropractic practice, and interact professionally with other individuals and groups involved in relevant research. Dr. Goodman

Lisa Goodman, DC, of Denver, Colo., was awarded the prestigious 2025 Women in Leadership Award by the World Congress of Women Chiropractors (WCWC). The award is presented annually to individuals who exemplify outstanding leadership qualities and have made significant contributions to the field. Dr. Goodman is the founder of Washington Park Chiropractic in Denver, a multidisciplinary clinic, as well as author of The Manual for the Chiropractic Entrepreneur and an international speaker. She recently contributed a post to the ACA blog:  “From Hire to Inspire: Creating a Culture of Excellence.”

Dr. Johnson

Valerie Johnson, DC, DABCI, of Los Angeles, Calif., was featured recently in an article published on the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) website. The article highlights the benefit that chiropractic’s non-drug approach to pain management offers to veterans and touches on how chiropractors at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) take the time to listen to patients and educate them about their plan of care. Dr. Johnson serves as the supervisor of VAGLAHS chiropractic services as well as chiropractic residency director.

 

Dr. Farabaugh

Ronald Farabaugh, DC, served as lead author on an article selected as the “2024 Best Published” by Chiropractic and Manual Therapies. “Cost of chiropractic versus medical management of adults with spine-related musculoskeletal pain: a systematic review” compares the costs of chiropractic versus medical care for the management of spine-related musculoskeletal pain in U.S. adults. Dr. Farabaugh is chair of the ACA Research Advisory Board and also represents ACA on the Clinical Compass board. Dr. Kain

Ryan Kain, DC, of Plummer, Idaho, was appointed by ACA President Marc Nynas to serve as chair of the association’s new Tribal Health Interest Group. There are 574 federally recognized Tribes in the United States, with approximately 2.1 million members. The Indian Health Service (IHS) is the last remaining healthcare agency not to utilize chiropractic care per current guidelines. The new group aims to change this by working with the Tribes directly and with IHS. Read more and join the interest group

 

Dr. Mooring

Scott A. Mooring, DC, CCSP, ICSC, FICC, was selected by the ACA Sports Council as its 2024 Sports Chiropractor of the Year, celebrating his exceptional contributions to sports chiropractic and his dedication to advancing the profession. This prestigious award underscores Dr. Mooring’s decades-long commitment to improving athlete care and his leadership in chiropractic sports medicine.
