With the theme, “Get Started with Chiropractic,” National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM) 2025 gave members of the profession nationwide the opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits of chiropractic and how taking a non-drug approach to pain initially may help people avoid prescription pain medications later.
While progress has been made in recent years, opioid overuse remains a public health problem in the United States. Raising awareness of non-drug therapies for pain, such as chiropractic services, is an important part of ongoing national strategies to reduce opioid use and abuse.
ACA would like to acknowledge the efforts of everyone who participated in the campaign this year, whether it was by obtaining an NCHM proclamation, engaging in interviews with local media or by posting their own creative content with the hashtag #GetStaredStartedwithChiropractic. It all contributed to a great campaign and increased public awareness of this very important public health topic.
Proclamations
In total, there were 40 NCHM proclamations announced in 2025. From states to cities, these government proclamations are a centerpiece of NCHM public awareness each year. Obtaining a proclamation enables members of the profession not only to promote the benefits of chiropractic care, but also to meet and spend time with their elected officials.
Hats off to doctors of chiropractic in Texas, who obtained not only a state proclamation but also 29 local proclamations! Texas chiropractors subsequently found different ways to mark the occasion. For example, the Huntsville, Texas mayor appeared on video with a DC to read his proclamation. And to celebrate Houston’s proclamation, Texas Chiropractic Association District 11 leaders held a special event, which was attended by their current and former council representatives. The gathering also featured DCs, patients and family members. As one organizer added, the support they felt “inspired us to fall back in love with what we do.”
Virigina chiropractors came up with a new idea this year to mark NCHM. They were able to get more than 100 chiropractors or chiropractic allies to sign the back of their 2025 proclamation. “We have over 100 signatures including chiropractors, a surgeon, a physiatrist, office staff, and more! The intention was to stimulate over 100 positive conversations around NCHM. We chose this number because it’s also the 100-year anniversary of the Unified Virginia Chiropractic Association,” explained ACA Alternate Virginia Delegate Dr. Allie Totzke-Hitzeroth.
Congratulations to all who obtained a proclamation in 2025. View the full list at the bottom of this page. (If your proclamation does not appear in the list, please send an email to [email protected].)
Interviews and Articles
NCHM and observances like it offer chiropractors an opportunity to reach out to their local media to suggest coverage or an interview. Each year, we find examples of DCs taking part in interviews during NCHM and educating local audiences about chiropractic care and/or the importance of musculoskeletal health. Topics this year also included removing stigma around chiropractic care, the benefits of chiropractic’s holistic approach, and empowering patients with self-care strategies to keep them well.
In addition, ChiroOne Wellness centers put together an article titled, “Why National Chiropractic Health Month 2025 Matters,” which included relevant stats and information to illustrate the importance of musculoskeletal health. Likewise, Chiropractic Economics announced that it would highlight drug-free pain management through a series of articles during NCHM.
Social Media
ACA provides a gallery of social media posts for chiropractors to use during NCHM, but that doesn’t stop members of the profession from getting creative and developing their own social media content. For example, Palmer College featured “Bad Habits to Ghost” for NCHM. The video features a ghost showing the wrong way and then the right way to do everyday tasks without injuring the musculoskeletal system. It’s scary good! Watch it here.
Others took a different approach, such as posting more personal videos about why they became chiropractors and how they understand the need to manage pain from their own personal experience. Still others marked NCHM by creating a series of photos of chiropractors in action and videos to communicate the value of chiropractic during pregnancy.
These are just a few examples of content created and shared by members of the profession during NCHM 2025. At ACA, we are thankful for everyone who put their positive energy into this year’s campaign, helping to raise awareness of chiropractic and its many benefits in respect to pain management and promoting general health.
