Get ‘Active and Adaptive’ During National Chiropractic Health Month 2020

Arlington, Va. – The American Chiropractic Association has announced that this October during National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM) 2020, chiropractors nationwide will focus on helping people become more “Active and Adaptive” as they continue to adjust to lifestyle changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

After months of sheltering in place, many people are still practicing lifestyle changes to reduce their potential exposure to the novel coronavirus: avoiding crowded public spaces, working from home, forgoing air travel for car trips, ordering food and supplies online, and avoiding gyms and exercise classes. As a result, people are moving less, feeling less fit and, in some cases, experiencing pain. NCHM 2020 will encourage the public to adjust to the challenges of staying fit and pain free within a smaller lifestyle footprint by becoming more mindful of movement and posture and by highlighting tips and strategies to help them adapt in healthy ways.

“Moving less can take a toll on our musculoskeletal system, which thrives on movement,” says ACA President Robert C. Jones, DC. “Doctors of chiropractic can offer not only expertise in musculoskeletal health, but also lifestyle recommendations that can help people stay healthier and avoid pain and injuries during these challenging times.”

An “Active and Adaptive” NCHM campaign toolkit, with resources and ideas on how to participate, will be available in September at www.acatoday.org/NCHM. For campaign updates, follow ACA on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
