ACA has compiled the information and resources on the practice of informed consent to help foster shared decision making between doctors of chiropractic and their patients. ACA supports and encourages its members to help patients understand the benefits and risks of any proposed course of treatment.
The ACA Code of Ethics, which members sign when they join the association, notes that “doctors of chiropractic should employ their best good faith efforts to provide information and facilitate understanding to enable the patient to make an informed choice in regard to proposed chiropractic treatment. The patient should make his or her own determination on such treatment.”
