ACA Member Dr. Sherri LaShomb Selected to Support Athletes at Olympic Games in Tokyo

If you run into ACA member Sherri LaShomb, DC, of Lewiston, N.Y. these days, you might want to greet her with kon'nichiwa – Japanese for hello. LaShomb has been brushing up on her Japanese ever since learning that she was chosen to be one of a select group of healthcare volunteers who will support athletes competing at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan this summer.

‘Travel-to-Treat’ Legislation Heads to President’s Desk for Signature

The U.S. Senate today passed by a vote of 93-6 legislation that ensures that sports health professionals traveling to another state with athletic teams remain covered by their malpractice insurance. The bill now advances to the president’s desk, where it is expected to be signed into law. As lawmakers drafted the legislation, the American Chiropractic Association worked to ensure that doctors of chiropractic, along with other providers, were included in the bill’s final language.

Dr. Ira Shapiro Becomes 11th Honoree in Organization’s 45-Year History

For only the 11th time in the past 45 years, the ACA Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness (the Sports Council) joined with members and colleagues last fall to name the latest inductee into its Hall of Fame (HOF). Two days of educational sessions, social events and poster presentations were highlighted by the induction of Ira A. Shapiro, DC, who received the HOF distinction during the organization’s 2017 Annual Sports Symposium held in Denver.
