Engage 2021: Treating Concussion Beyond the Chiropractic Adjustment

When treating athletes, it's essential to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team and to understand their unique needs, according to Lisa Thomson, DC, CFMP, NRCME. She discusses the importance of knowing how to communicate effectively with other types of providers when treating athletes in her upcoming Engage 2020 talk, "Building a Better Athlete: A Team Approach." During the presentation, she will also review some of the most important movement patterns for optimal athletic performance.

Overdue ‘Travel-to-Treat’ Bill Advances in Congress

On Sept. 6, 2018, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed H.R. 302, the “Sports Medicine Licensure Clarity Act of 2017.” The legislation, also referred to as “Travel to Treat,” would ensure that sports health professionals are covered by their malpractice insurance while traveling to another state with athletic teams. As lawmakers drafted this legislation, the American Chiropractic Association worked to ensure that doctors of chiropractic, along with other providers, were included in the bill’s final language.
