ACA Announces Legislative Priorities for the 117th Congress

With the new year and the first session of the 117th Congress now underway, the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) is ready to tackle several important legislative issues on behalf of ACA members, patients and the chiropractic profession. The ACA Legislative Committee met recently and established priorities for the new congressional session.

Senate Approves Coronavirus Economic Relief Package

Provisions of interest to chiropractors address student loans, small business loans, employee retention, and individual rebates.

Just before midnight on March 25, the Senate unanimously passed H.R. 748, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a $2.2 trillion economic relief package—the largest in U.S. history—in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The bill was then sent to the House of Representatives and on March 27, it was passed by a voice vote and sent to the White House where President Trump signed it into law (Public Law No: 116-136). The CARES Act contains several provisions of importance to the chiropractic profession and the ACA has prepared an initial summary.

Federal Tax Bill Contains Language Pertinent to DCs, Chiropractic Students

*Member-Exclusive Content* The federal tax bill approved by Congress today—and on its way now to the president's desk for his signature—contains several provisions that may affect chiropractic clinics and chiropractic students. Among the massive rework of the federal tax code is language that deals with “pass through” business tax, student loans and changes to the Affordable Care Act.
