The Student ACA (SACA) hosted its annual fall Business Meeting on Sept. 18 over Adobe Connect. During the meeting, SACA adopted the same thematic goals as the ACA. It was important to the student leaders to stay in step with the direction of ACA to ensure continuity when students graduate and become ACA chiropractors.
Another major action for SACA at the business meeting was the unanimous adoption of the ACA Mission, Vision, and Values Statement written by the ACA Millennial Think Tank:
- Mission: To inspire and empower our members to elevate the health and wellness of their communities.
- Vision: The American Chiropractic Association is leading a modern movement of chiropractic care based on higher standards and a focus on patient outcomes.
- Values: We model excellence in patient-centered, evidence-based care. We serve our patients in the interest of public health. We participate in the health care community through collaboration and integration. We hold each other to higher standards.
Student ACA members have been champions in respect to accepting the new brand and vision of ACA. To some of the student members, there was no transition period because evidence-based, patient-centered, collaborative care was already their perception of ethical patient care.
Previously, as a student you were a SACA member and then you graduated and became an ACA member. Now, the vision is that as a student you are a student ACA member and therefore part of the ACA community. Now is the best time to be a SACA member because the collaboration and communication between ACA leaders and SACA members has never been so open and connected.
