Comfort Motion Technologies Makes Drive Time More Comfortable

Today’s modern automotive seating offers significant advancements in comfort and support.  However, despite these advances, as consumers spend more and more time in their cars, they want more comfort; seat ergonomics remains one of the top concerns of the automobile industry.  And from a biomechanical standpoint, no matter how well a seat is designed or how well it supports the spine, joints and soft tissues surrounding the spine will fatigue without regular intervals of motion.

ACA’s new endorsed partner, Comfort Motion Technologies, LLC, has created an innovative solution that offers a seat occupant the option of initiating Comfort Motion Technologies (CMT) software, which takes them through a series of subtle movements in their position to increase blood flow and reduce pressure on the spine. These subtle movements are automated on a repeating cycle providing enhanced comfort while maintaining a safe range of operation for all mirrors, pedals and driving instruments.

The concept for the CMT seat software was introduced by Dr. Paul Phipps, an Indianapolis sports chiropractor who specializes in ergonomic and sports biomechanics of the spine. While in private practice, Dr. Phipps found many patients complaining of chronic back pain or measurable discomfort after driving in their cars.

Comfort Motion Technologies is currently working with original equipment manufacturers in the automotive and mass transportation industries.  Many of you may have tried the automotive seat recently at ACA’s National Chiropractic Legislative Conference this past March.  You will soon see this same CMT seat software available on some future vehicles for sale in North America.  Be sure to check it out -- for the benefit of you and your patients.
